The fourth fun was a huge success! Raising over $3,800 for Pencils of Promise, the fun run has given about 15 children the education they need. VIPs that attended and spoke at the opening ceremony were Virginia Senator (from the 34th District) Chap Petersen, the nonprofit Our Daily Bread food bank owner Chris Garris, and All-American runner Caleb Hymans, 10. All of the attendees were required to run or walk at least one lap. Though it was a little bit chilly, as it would be in early December, the run was still very fun and went above and beyond its name! Here are some pictures of the event.
The third fun run in June 2014 was an excellent event! We had a great turnout and perfect June weather. We raised over $1,000 for Chessie's BIG Backyard! Bobbi Longworth and Sharon Bulova were honorary VIPs. The event also boasted a raffle with all sorts of coupons and deals. Local bakeries and supermarkets donated food for the event! Below are some pictures of the run.
The fun run that occurred in May 2013 was a success! Rohil Bhinge organized a fun run in his neighborhood to raise money for Chessie's BIG Backyard. 90 people made the run, while about 40 spectators cheered them on from the sidelines. Chairman Sharon Bulova, Olympian Moise Joseph, Park Foundation President Bobbi Longworth, Pediatrician Mona Rewari and Marathon Runner Rodney Lusk motivated them to run. Most of the runners were in the 9-13 age group. Certificates were given to all the runners. $2,070 was raised for the park!
Below are pictures of the fun run in October 2012, the first one! This fun run was an excellent event and the first of many coming events. The extraordinary outcome caused an article to be published in Fairfax County's Parktakes magazine (there is a link in the Brag Pages). Some of the pictures shown below went in the magazine.
